Print & Digital Sizes

Printed Images

1. Prints must be mounted - flush-mounted on mount board or window-mounted with a backing (unless
an entry for a Novice Competition). The title of the print and an arrow to point out orientation must
be written on the back. No adhesive tape or Velcro patches should be attached to the back as these
may damage other members' prints.

2. Mount size - 16" x 12" (40cm x 30cm) maximum size.

For Exhibition - 16” x 12” (40cm x 30cm) maximum size.

For Exhibition - A 3" x 2" (7.5cm x 5cm) card with title, author's name must accompany each print.

3. Number of entries -

Novice - 2 per new or unplaced member

Romanes - 2 per member

Exhibition - 10 prints 16" x 12" ((40cm x 30cm) maximum per member

Website (members galleries) - Each member can submit a maximum of 10 images for the website.

5. Prints cannot also be entered as digital Images in the same competition.

6. Prints may be colour or black-and-white (unless otherwise stated).

Digital Images

Please do not submit images larger than the detailed sizes as such images may be disqualified from entry.

Digital images must be saved as a JPEG, sRGB colour space.

a. Image sizes for display on a projector, such as for internal image shows or competitions -

1600 pixels maximum width x 1200 pixels maximum height in landscape mode or 1200 pixels high if
in portrait format.

square images must be 1200 pixels x 1200 pixels maximum

CLICPIC


SIZING FACTOR 1

CLICPIC stipulates images should be no larger than 400kb Pixels per Inch (PPI)

SIZING FACTOR 2

As well as the physical dimensions e.g. width and height, that control the final size of the image, it is
recommended the image density (also known as PPI or resolution) be set to 72 PPI but this may be
increased provided the maximum file size of 400kb is not exceeded. * see note below

1000 pixels maximum width x 666 pixels maximum height landscpape or 666 pixels high if in
portrait format (width of portrait format images may vary).

Square images must be a maximum size of 666 x 666 pixels maximum

(This new image size is to minimise scrolling on the web and for a quick upload on the web)

To reduce the chance of image theft, all images in the "galleries" will be displayed on the website as
watermarked. A copyright statement will also be displayed on the website.


* It is planned to provide a detailed article on 'resizing images' in the
tutorial section of the website, to try and explain how resizing
works and why it is an important part of digital photography.



c. Images for the website should be titled: - e.g. Horse in Snow By Joe Bloggs

d. Members may provide additional details for an image of their own, these details may prove helpful to
any reader.

7. Number of entries , applicable to all submissions (prints and digital) -

Novice - 2 per new or unplaced member

'Romanes' - 2 per member

Club Championship - 3 per section per member, places 1 through 5 will be awarded.

Interclub - 2 per member for selection.

Hawick Borders Digital Challenge -2 per member for selection.

Members Galleries - Each member can submit a maximum of 10 images.

8. Digital images cannot also be entered as a print in the
same competition.

9. Digital images may be colour or black and white (unless
otherwise stated)

10. Entries to be brought to the Club or emailed in at least 1 (one) week in advance of the
required cutoff date (see UPLOADS . . . on the website for further details).

All sizes are subject to change. External competition rules and sizes may differ to ours and any deviation from sizing rules may lead to disqualification of an entry.

Kindly note that Club Competitions and the Exhibition are for fully paid-up members only.
